Dr. Jack Templeton has been engaged in Finite Element analyses since his space program experience of the 1960's and has specialized in nonlinear FE analyses and soil mechanics since the 1970’s. Jack led the Offshore Soil Mechanics group at Exxon Production Research Company in the 1980’s when EPR was the original sponsor of soil mechanics capability development in ABAQUS. In the 1990’s, Jack became the first independent consultant to offer ABAQUS based geotechnical consulting services to the offshore industry. Since that time he has specialized in finite element solution of offshore geotechnical problems, primarily using ABAQUS.
Jack is currently President of SAGE USA, Inc. and has been with SAGE affiliate companies for 20 years, preceded by 20 years of large corporation technical and leadership positions. He is a graduate of Drexel (BSME, MS in Applied Mechanics) and Tulane (Dr. of Engineering) Universities. A licensed Professional Engineer for 40 years, Dr. Templeton is qualified in both civil and mechanical engineering.
A Fellow of ASCE, he is a Life Member of both ASCE and ASME. He is certified as Diplomate in Ocean Engineering by the ASCE’s Academy of Coastal, Ocean, Port and Navigation Engineers. He is also a recipient of the ASCE OTC Hall of Fame Award for pioneering and lasting impact in Offshore Technology. Jack has taught Soil Mechanics at Exxon Production Research and Foundation Engineering at the University of Houston.
